Powersoccer world cup
All the players have been participating in powersoccer for many years, one in particular has been playing since 1994. Many players were involved in the 2006 International Summit in Atlanta Georgia and they helped to incorporate the international rules. All team members have travelled extensively throughout Canada and the USA participating in a variety of tournaments including both Americas Champions Cup. With each opportunity to compete against a new opponent, these players have gained experience which has aided in mastering their skills and techniques. These players have been committed to the development of the sport on a local, provincial, national and international level. Most players are students attending college or university and are active volunteers in the community. Above all, the dedicated players of Team Canada have found that powersoccer has enriched their lives, helping them learn about teamwork, develop leadership, build self confidence and increase their independence. The team is looking forward to competing in the World Cup and meeting everyone from around the world.

These athletes are fundraising to send 2 teams to the National Powerchair Football Championships in Quebec in April 2011. The National team will be selected at this time and will travel to Paris, France to participate in the Powerchair Football World Cup in October 2011 for the very first time ever. Powersoccer
This exciting ACC Powerchair Football event was held on Oct 9 – 11, 2010 at Bonsor Rec Centre in Burnaby where the top 8 club teams in Canada and US competed together. It was a great opportunity for everyone to participate in a tournament at this caliber.

Three of our teams, Okanagan Thunderchairs, North Shore Eagles, and Vancouver Lightning and were able to represent Canada and placed 8th, 7th and 5th respectively. The US teams were: Atlanta Synergy (the Champions), Tampa Thunder, San Jose Steamrollers, Atlanta Tigers and Minnesota Courage Blizzards.

It was a successful event made possible by Sportability, the local organizing committee, FIPFA, the international powerchair football association, numerous sponsors and all the dedicated volunteers. The players look forward to the new season and continue to learn from this experience and to improve and excel in the sport of powersoccer.

Powersoccer demo in Calgary on Aug 20, 2010

On August 19 – 21st a group of four BC power soccer players and their families traveled to Calgary to host a power soccer demonstration.
The Calgary players had reserved the gym for four hours on the Saturday and we managed to cover many aspects of the game during that time. We focussed on the rules, officiating, fouls, set-plays, equipment etc. The time flew by, and the 13 participants didn’t want to stop!
It is through demonstrations such as this that we promote our sport and new teams grow throughout the country. It is our goal to have power soccer in every province in Canada one day.

Several Powersoccer players across BC were eager to demonstrate this exciting sport to all the spectators during Canada Day's celebrations with BC Soccer at Canada Place this July 1, 2010. It was a well attended event and we hope to gain more awareness of our program and to inspire new players to participate.

San Jose Tournament May 22-23, 2010

Players from the Greater Vancouver area were able to represent BC Powersoccer as a team to compete in the International Powersoccer tournament in San Jose California. The team was able to tie twice the San Jose Steamrollers, the Western Region's top team and tied again to Santa Barbara Rollin' Gauchos. The team did lose 2 games but never allowed more than one goal due to their amazing defence, BORP Bay Earthquakes (Berkeley) at 1-0 and Hollister Freee Wheelers at 1-0. It was an exciting weekend and all the players look forward to meeting again with San Jose Steamrollers this October for the Americas Champion Cup held in Vancouver.
